Rooted In Relationship.
Driven By Dignity.

Reimagining An Authentic Response To Homelessness.
At SOFESA, we believe the family is ground zero for every homeless individual—catastrophic family breakdown is the root challenge. Our approach begins with healing and restoring human relationships, not just providing services.
We aim to lead differently, moving beyond programs toward a presence of true accompaniment, where support is relational, not transactional. Individuals are empowered to act with friendship, courage, and commitment to help those experiencing homelessness.
By prioritizing direct engagement and local initiative, we work to restore dignity, rebuild families, and spark a national movement that equips everyone to support the most vulnerable and transform lives through meaningful connection.

Los Angeles is facing a homelessness epidemicm,
and money & traditional systems have failed to meet the need.
Even SOFESA’s Emergency Outreach Program,
after 20+ years of service, became unsustainable and was shut down.
For the past 4 years,
SOFESA has researched, traveled, and partnered with other programs to design a new model of care for families in need.
5 CORE INSIGHTS

Homelessness is not just a housing issue it’s a relational rupture.

1. The Family is Ground Zero
Every homeless individual shares one foundational challenge—catastrophic family breakdown. Healing, not solving is therefore the starting point.

2. We Must Lead Differently
Change the chip corporatively and individually to enable a move from programs to a missionary presence —where accompaniment is both the method and the goal.

3. From Transactional to Relational
Equip every person not just to believe or support but to act in a spirit of friendship and be filled with the desire and opportunities to serve the poor directly and courageously.

4. Live the Call
Prioritize subsidiarity and encounter strategies over scale, tools, resources or bureaucratic coordination with state and municipal actors.
