Christmas of Hope Celebration
Our first Christmas party was held in a little community room for 13 homeless/low income children and their families in December of 2006. The Christmas of Hope Celebration is our biggest event for all of the homeless/low income children and their families that SOFESA helps. This event includes a full dinner with dessert, live entertainment, wrapped Christmas presents, a pair of new shoes, stuffed Christmas stockings, arts and crafts activities, Christmas Carol sing-a-long, and a visit from Santa Claus! This event is put on solely by private donations and volunteers. Please sponsor a child for this year's Christmas of Hope Celebration today.
Volunteer Wrapping Party
Each year, on the eve of our Annual Christmas of Hope Celebration, we invite the community to come and help SOFESA to wrap hundreds of presents, stuff stockings, cook and organize food, and decorate the event space for our homeless and low income children and their families. It is a wonderful event that gives those in our community who are interested an opportunity to give to the neediest of our area. Children are welcome! We ask that each guest bring one roll of wrapping paper as a donation. Snacks and drinks provided. RSVP below.
Back to School Backpack Drive
When funds are available, SOFESA organizes a Back to School Backpack Drive to help homeless and low income have the needed supplies to start school. Our partnership with BLU School Supplies enables us to get fully loaded backpacks for students at a fraction of the cost. Your monthly commitment to SOFESA helps fund this event. Help us today by signing up as a monthly donor.
Emergency Outreach Program
Our Emergency Outreach Program provides up to 3 nights in a motel (shelter), food, clothing, personal items and gas emergency needs. Once sheltered, SOFESA helps to connect them with resources available to them to obtain transitional housing.
Please donate. We are in desperate need of funds!
SOFESA works with families and children who are in a constant state of survival. It is our goal to slowly introduce scenarios and opportunities for them to escape survival mode and concentrate on their positive mental and physical well being. Field trips are important because they present the opportunity for them to trust, to let go and to be free of those worries and concerns of survival mode. It is a slow process to regain (or in some cases establish) normal, healthy lives. It may seem like only a movie, only a theatre show, only an art class to us – but to them, it is a life changing opportunity to regain hope for themselves and to heal. Please consider donating today and help SOFESA put an end to survival mode.
When funds are available, SOFESA organizes an Easter party for some of our SOFESA children. This event usually includes an Easter Egg Hunt, BBQ lunch, arts and crafts, games and activities and a nicely stuffed Easter basket per child. Your monthly commitment to SOFESA helps fund this event. Help us today by signing up as a monthly donor.
